About Us
Who We Are
The mission of the Honors Program is to engage, challenge, and support academically motivated and diverse students from all disciplines. We enrich students’ learning through academic, cultural, professional, and community-building opportunities. We equip students with tools and resources to develop competencies and transferable skills.
What We Believe
The Honors Program at Illinois State University believes that through the diversity of background, thought, and experience we can create a more dynamic Honors Mindset. The Honors Program strives to center multiple perspectives and provide students with the tools and the space to develop as critical thinkers, leaders, and members of a multicultural world. Our focus is not on simply celebrating diversity, rather allowing students, faculty, and staff to learn from the experiences of those around them so that they can be allies and advocates for a more just society. We are dedicated to increasing representation and enhancing the accessibility of our program. By opening our doors to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we can create more thoughtful, engaged, and just communities.
What We Do
The Honors Program features a framework that combines marketable skills with memorable experiences. The Dimensions of Honors Learning are interwoven throughout the six unique Honors Learning Experiences offered to students each semester. Students are empowered to customize their undergraduate experience by pursuing Honors opportunities that reflect their interests and aspirations.
