Readmission to the Honors Program
"I was an Honors student but did not fulfill GPA requirements. I have raised my GPA and would like to apply to be readmitted."
Students who have been dropped from the Honors Program as a result of not meeting grade point average requirements are eligible to reapply after their cumulative GPA has surpassed the required 3.3 minimum. Students who are successfully readmitted typically have been out of the program for two or more semesters and have shown strong semester GPAs, leading to steady improvement of the cumulative GPA.
Students who are interested in applying for readmission should contact the Honors Program.
*Please note: Students who have been dropped from the Honors Program as a result of not fulfilling the participation requirement are not eligible to reapply to the program.
Honors students returning to Illinois State
"I was an Honors student but took some time off from Illinois State. I am returning and would like to be in the Honors Program again."
Honors students who left Illinois State in good standing (in terms of GPA and Honors credit) and return to the university may request to regain their Honors status. This would include students who took time off to attend a community college or who are returning to complete a second bachelor's degree. Students should submit a letter to the Honors Director discussing their departure from and return to Illinois State and formally requesting to regain their Honors status.
Requests should be received prior to the first day of classes in order to ensure time for review and, if readmitted, time for students to arrange an Honors Learning experience for the semester.
