Presidential Scholars

Students who were selected as Presidential Scholars as incoming freshmen are members of and must fulfill Honors Program requirements.

The following information applies to students who were awarded the Presidential Scholarship as freshmen in Fall 2019 or earlier. This does not apply to students starting in Fall 2020 or beyond.

Requirements

In addition to Honors Program requirements, Presidential Scholars complete a series of four unique Honors Seminars:

  • HON 102A17: Honors Mindset Seminar
  • Three seminars from the following Advanced Honors Seminar options:
    • HON 202A75: Interdisciplinary Investigations
    • HON 202A76: Innovation and Inquiry
    • HON 202A77: Leadership in Action
    • HON 202A78: Culture, Context, and Identity

Successful completion of these seminars, in addition to general university graduation requirements, is required for graduation. “Presidential Scholar” is noted on student transcripts and in the Commencement Booklet. Presidential Scholars wear silver cords at commencement.

Renewal

The Presidential Scholarship is renewable for up to four years. Renewal is automatic and requires continuous enrollment with 12 or more credit hours.
